Terms
These terms cover this website and the Dogz application at app.dogz.guru, where owners and hosts keep profiles and arrange stays. Dogz does not take bookings or handle money, and these terms are clear about what it does and does not do today.
1. What you are using
Dogz.guru is this website, plus an application at app.dogz.guru where you can create an account, describe your dog or your home, find homes that suit your dog, and ask a host about a stay. Using either means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using Dogz.
Dogz.guru is not yet operated by a registered company. For that reason these terms do not name a legal entity and contain no governing-law or jurisdiction clause; a complete agreement will replace this page once that changes.
2. What Dogz does not do
Dogz introduces people. It does not take bookings, hold or reserve dates, process payments, or set or suggest prices. There is no availability calendar, so nothing on Dogz means a host is free on any particular date.
Dogz does one narrow check on dates: it will not let a host agree to a stay that would put more guest dogs in their home at once than the number they told us they can take. That is a guard against a host double-committing by accident. It is not a statement that a host is free. There is no way for a host to mark themselves away, so an empty week in Dogz means only that nothing has been agreed through Dogz — not that anybody is available.
Dogz does carry messages, but only between an owner and one host, only about one proposed stay, and only after the host has said they are interested and the owner has chosen to continue. That is a place to talk, not a booking system.
A host saying they are interested is not a confirmed booking. It means they would like to discuss the stay. Any arrangement you go on to make is between you and the other person, directly, and Dogz is not a party to it.
You can also record a Stay Agreement: the owner proposes final dates and the host agrees to them. It is a note of what the two of you decided between yourselves, so that you both have the same dates written down. It is not a booking, not a reservation, and not a payment — Dogz takes no money, holds no dates, and does not promise either of you that the stay will go ahead. Whatever you arrange remains between you and the other person, and Dogz is not a party to it.
Either of you can propose different dates afterwards, and the other has to agree before anything moves. Either of you can also cancel an agreed stay, up to and during the dates themselves. Dogz records these actions and tells the other person; it does not charge a cancellation fee, take a penalty or process a refund, because it never handled a payment in the first place. What cancelling in Dogz does is update the record between you — it does not decide anything you may have arranged privately.
Dates passing does not mean a stay happened. Once they have, we ask each of you to record whether it went ahead, and we keep both answers — including when they disagree. Dogz does not check or verify any of this, does not decide who is right, and does not treat matching answers as proof of anything beyond the fact that you both said the same thing.
Where you have both recorded that a stay happened, you can each leave one review of it — a rating out of five and an optional note. Neither of you can read the other’s until you have both written one, and a review can’t be changed afterwards. Reviews are opinions from one person about one stay: Dogz does not check them or judge whether they are fair, and there is no such thing as a verified review here.
Once you have both written, the rating an owner gives a host becomes visible to other signed-in Dogz users — as a number and a month, with no name attached and no note. What an owner writes stays between them and that host, and a host’s review of an owner or their dog is never shown to anyone else. Ratings are not used to order search results and are not part of Guru Match, which is about whether a dog and a home suit each other.
Please keep what you write honest and civil, and leave out contact details and anything about where somebody lives. A host cannot edit, hide or remove a review of their home — a rating they could delete would be worth nothing. If something in a review needs looking at, email privacy@dogz.guru and a person will read it; there is no automated moderation, and we may remove a review where we have to.
We do not provide boarding, sitting, walking, grooming, training or veterinary services ourselves, and we are not acting as an agent or broker for anyone who does.
3. What we do not check
Everything on a profile is written by the person it belongs to. Dogz does not verify any of it. We do not check identity, run background checks, inspect homes, confirm experience, confirm licensing, or provide insurance. There are no reviews and no verified badges, because none of those things exist yet.
Deciding whether to leave your dog with someone — or to take someone else’s dog — is your decision, and we would strongly encourage meeting first.
4. Compatibility guidance
Dogz compares what an owner recorded about their dog with what a host recorded about their home and describes how well they appear to fit. This is a fixed set of rules applied to answers both people gave; it is not artificial intelligence, and it produces no score or percentage.
It is guidance to help you judge a fit for yourself. It is not a guarantee of safety, suitability or outcome, and it is only ever as good as what was entered.
The example match shown on this marketing site, involving a dog called Milo and a household called Sarah’s Home, is invented and illustrates presentation only. No real person, home or animal is depicted in it.
5. Your account and what you write
Accounts are created through 6away Auth. You are responsible for what you record about your dog, yourself and your home, and for keeping it accurate — a host relies on it to decide whether they can care for a dog safely, and an owner relies on it to decide whether to trust you.
In using Dogz you agree that:
- the information you provide is truthful, and about a dog or a home you are actually responsible for;
- you will disclose things that affect a dog’s safe care, including medication needs and behaviour a host would need to manage;
- you will only make a home discoverable if you genuinely intend to consider taking dogs;
- you understand a stay request is a proposal, and that neither sending one nor receiving interest creates any obligation on either side;
- we may decline, suspend or remove any account, profile or listing.
You keep whatever rights you have in what you write. You give us permission to store it and to show it to other users as described in our Privacy Policy — which sets out exactly what crosses between users, and what never does.
6. Messages
A conversation opens only when both of you have chosen it, and it stays tied to the one stay request it belongs to. Messages are plain text. They cannot be edited or deleted once sent, because the thread is a shared record rather than yours alone, and it stays readable to both of you after a request is withdrawn, declined or has passed.
You are responsible for what you write. Please keep it about the stay, and treat anything you type as something the other person will keep. Dogz never discloses your email address or phone number to another user — but we cannot stop somebody typing their own into a message, and we do not monitor conversations. If you arrange to communicate or meet outside Dogz, that is entirely between you.
We do not moderate messages, and there is no report button yet. If somebody uses Dogz to harass or mislead you, email privacy@dogz.guru and we will deal with it by hand.
7. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- create a profile for a dog or a home that is not yours to describe, or impersonate anyone;
- use Dogz to advertise a commercial boarding business as though it were a private home, or to reach users for anything unrelated;
- use another person’s information from Dogz for any purpose other than considering the stay it was shared for;
- scrape, bulk-collect or automate access to profiles, homes or requests;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to Dogz, its database or its infrastructure;
- copy the site’s design or content to pass it off as your own.
8. Intellectual property
The Dogz.guru name, wordmark, page design, copy and the Guru Match presentation are ours. You may link to the site and quote briefly from it with attribution. You may not reproduce it wholesale or use our name or branding in a way that suggests endorsement or partnership.
The photographs on this site are licensed stock images used under the licence granted by their provider. That licence is ours, not yours — please do not extract the images for your own use.
9. Dogz is provided as-is
We try to keep Dogz accurate and available, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any home shown will suit your dog, or that any host will respond. Features may change or be removed without notice.
Because Dogz introduces people rather than providing care, we are not a party to any arrangement you make and are not responsible for what happens in someone else’s home. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Dogz. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
10. Links
If this site ever links somewhere else, we are not responsible for that site’s content or its handling of your data.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Dogz develops, and will change the date at the top of this page when we do. Substantive changes will be emailed to the people they affect. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
